Deiseb a wrthodwyd Reconsider decision regarding A467 footbridge replacement
The footbridge on the A467 received significant structural damage due to a lorry mounted crane circa July 2019. A pedestrian crossing was put in place temporarily. CCBC proposed a permanent puffin crossing instead of replacing the footbridge. Residents are not happy with their decision due to the speed and volume of traffic in that area, as well as numerous previous deaths being recorded. Many school children, elderly and residents use this route to get to local amenities, work etc.

Residents around the Pantside area and motorists using the area will be aware that the footbridge over the A467 was forced to close at the end of July 2019 due to a lorry mounted crane that had not been correctly stowed causing significant structural damage.
A temporary pedestrian crossing was put in place on the 1st of August to ensure pedestrians were able to safely cross the A467 which has remained in place since.
There have been numerous deaths recorded on that section of road proving it extremely unsafe. We as residents feel a replacement footbridge is the only safe, tried and tested way for pedestrians to get to work, school and all local amenities. This includes the safe crossing for those with disabilities. Please sign the petition urging Caerphilly County Borough Council to consider replacing the footbridge ASAP rather than squander money and time on an ineffective puffin crossing.
