Deiseb a wrthodwyd Allow the placement of hedgehog warning road signs to reduce wildlife casualties in populated areas.
I am a veterinary nurse living on the caldicot bypass B4245. I have had a special interest in hedgehogs as in the past few years due to a boom in population in my urban area. This year the number of visiting hedgehogs to my area has quartered and I have seen a massive rise in wildlife casualties, some of which have been saved but the majority havent been so lucky.

I believe that due to the hedgehogs new critically endangered status it is the job of the local governments to erect hedgehog warning signs where the local people have requested them. I know I will have enormous support in the area of caldicot for these signs along the bypass. These sogns will make people more aware and encourage slower speed and vigilance at night. I have written to my local MP and to my local council. My local council have said that unfortunately due to the amount of signs on the roads they probably wont be putting these signs up.
This isnt good enough.
Britain is famous for being animals lovers and for having a beautiful countryside filled with lots of native wildlife. If we dont act now we are at risk of losing one of our most loved species, the hedgehog forever.
