Deiseb a wrthodwyd Return the Red Lady of Paviland to Swansea Dychwelwch Fenyw Goch Pen-y-fai i Abertawe

The bones of the Red Lady of Paviland, the oldest ceremonial burial in Western Europe dating from the Paleolithic era 34,000 years ago, were discovered in Gower and now reside in the Oxford Museum of Natural History.

There is considerable local support, especially in the Swansea area, that believe the Red Lady of Paviland should be returned to suitable accommodation in Swansea to be viewed by the public and returned from Oxford.

Rhagor o fanylion

This petition calls on the Welsh Government to lobby the Department for Communities, Media and Sport (DCMS) as well as the University of Oxford for the 'Red Lady's' return to Swansea and to promote the artefacts accordingly.

It is clear that this fascinating tale of the discovery of the bones and artefacts by the Rev John Davies in 1822 should be displayed in an appropriate manner locally in Swansea. This move should be on a permanent basis which could be a big draw for tourists interested in the prehistoric history of Wales.
