Deiseb a wrthodwyd Welsh Gov to fund a footway/cycleway between Rogiet & Undy in Monmouthshire as a matter of urgency.

Currently there is no safe way to travel on foot, cycle or wheel between the villages of Undy and Rogiet along the B4245. A safe route has been demanded for decades with no actions taken. The area has been part of the pilot for 20 MPH with the benefits to the environment pointed out as mitigation. However, there is no safe option to travel this route other than in a vehicle.

Developing a footway and cycle route would:
• Increase the uptake of walking, cycling and wheeling by pupils, commuters, local residents, and leisure users of the route
• improve safety and security of vulnerable users
• Get people out of their vehicles by providing an alternative to a private car, which has the potential to reduce the adverse impacts on environment
• Improve health and well-being of residents
• To contribute into the creation of a comprehensive and coherent Active Travel Network in Caldicot, Rogiet, Undy and Magor

Recent public consultations found overwhelming support for a footway/ cycleway, many could not believe they were being consulted again, after they had supported it at previous public meetings in decades past. We ask that Welsh Government provide funding to commence work on the route as soon as possible.
