Deiseb a wrthodwyd Reform The Welsh Rugby Union in the interest of Wales.

The Welsh Rugby national team has long been a point of pride for the people of Wales, but cracks - papered over by Warren Gatland's success as head coach - have begun to form, and paint a damning picture of the structure of the WRU, which threatens to condemn the Welsh National Team to mediocrity unless there is fundamental reform in the way that the Welsh Rugby Union, the Regions, and the grassroots game are managed.

Rhagor o fanylion

Welsh Rugby is in a dire state, the regions have been largely underperforming now for a decade, the clubs at the grassroots/amateur level of the game hold disproprotionate power and are able to dictate the terms on which the professional game can operate.

Those same clubs have also voted down every attempt by the WRU's executives to reform the structure of the professional game. The Regions - once touted as the saviours of welsh rugby, haven't been competitive now for a decade or more, with the regions' owners embroiled in a pay dispute with the WRU that's seeing welsh talent head across the bridge to play in England or even further afield! Finally, the decline effecting the Regions is beginning to effect the performance of the Welsh National team.

That Malaise cannot be allowed to persist, the Welsh Rugby Union needs fundamental reform, and if the WRU is incapable of enacting that reform itself, then the Welsh Government must step in and do it for them, as you did with the FAW.
