Deiseb a wrthodwyd Help retain Bridgend Bus Station

Bridgend County Borough Council are looking to close the town's bus station and only remaining public toilet.
As a father of someone who relies on the local bus service to get everywhere and also a town trader, it is more than worrying to have this happen.

With a town trying to get back on its feet, this could be another nail in the coffin.

Bridgend got rid of its bus station once before in the late 80's, to build a new one in 2004.
Bridgend town doesn't need another empty building, also older vulnerable people will have to wait in the cold and walk into town from wherever the bus will now stop.

BCBC says it will save money however, there will need to be a large amount of money spent setting up new stops etc. This is also happening as Porthcawl are getting a brand new "state of the art bus station costing Millions.

Councillor Nathan Deere said if the closure went ahead, it would affect residents and traders who rely on the buses for customers.

Councillor David Unwin said: "Whatever savings they think they can make are totally insignificant to the lasting damage it will do to bus travel and the prosperity of the town centre."

The proposal comes after residents in nearby Maesteg spoke out about the lack of "lifeline" services that had left people cut off in the town, as well as across the wider area.
