Deiseb a wrthodwyd Save & Restore the Colcot Sports Centre & Buttrills Fields in Barry
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s intention is to replace large parts of the sports, recreational & community facilities at Colcot Sports Centre in Barry, with social housing, a small carpark, play area & cycle track, removing a large part of the green space in the park.

The funds raised (£1.5 million) from the transfer of the land to the Vale Council’s Housing Department, will be used to fund new changing rooms at the Buttrills Fields, a new carpark & electric car charging points.
There has been no consultation with local residents, users or the wider community.
The Vale Council has allowed these facilities at Colcot Sports Centre to be left, with minimal maintenance or investment for the past 20 years, with only the addition of 6 x 3G pitches around 5 years ago!
Despite the loss of their full size hockey pitch in 2019, the u16 & u18 girls hockey teams at Ysgol Bro Morgannwg in 2023 won the Welsh Schools Hockey Cups!
