Deiseb a wrthodwyd ban the use of the english language in school curriculums

In 19th and early 20th century schools in Wales, children were punished for speaking Welsh through the use of the "Welsh Not". This practice involved a wooden token or plaque that was passed to children caught speaking Welsh, and the last child holding it at the end of the day would face corporal punishment, often a beating. The practice was most prevalent from around 1840 to 1900.
