Deiseb a wrthodwyd Increase the speed limit on the A4067 (ynyforgan to pontardawe) to 50mph with average speed cameras.
The A4067 has had its speed limit reduced to 40mph causing traffic to divert from this stretch of road though the surrounding villages.
The road was designed as a relief road and for faster more efficient commuting.
Due to serious and fatal accidents caused by late night racing on this stretch of road, the council decided to lower the speed limit to 40mph with average speed cameras.

A more sensible speed limit of 50mph needs to be introduced to help the flow of traffic and bring this road back to its original intention which was to relieve surrounding villages of traffic and risk.
Pushing traffic into these areas because of commuters trying to avoid what has become a slow moving, frustrating road has increased the risk to residents not only to the dangers of more traffic but also pollution from the increased traffic and inevitable speeding motorists.
I as many others believe, a more sensible speed limit along this stretch of the A4067 between Ynysforgan and Pontardawe with speed control measures would solve alot of issues, including the vandalism that has been done to the average speed cameras that are or were currently in place. This has no doubt been caused by the frustration of travelling what is essentially a straight road at mind numbing low speed. Some drivers even travelling as slow at 25mph on a road that was originally designed to be travelled at 50-60mph.
