Deiseb a wrthodwyd Ban Alcohol for Those Born After 2009 in Wales to Protect Public Health andReduceAntisocialBehaviour
Call on the Welsh Government to introduce legislation similar to the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, extending robust public health protections to alcohol. Alcohol is a major driver of preventable illness, hospitalisation, and premature death in Wales.

Alcohol is a public health crisis in Wales. In 2023, there were 562 alcohol-specific deaths the highest ever and 683 deaths where alcohol was a contributing factor. Alcohol also contributes to over 200 medical conditions, hospital admissions exceeding 12,000, and costs NHS more than £1 billion every year.
Beyond health, alcohol drives antisocial behaviour and crime, with 39% of violent incidents linked to drinking, and school exclusions Alarmingly, in GB over 1/3 of 11-year-olds have tried alcohol, and more than half by age 13.
We cannot let another generation suffer. We urge the Welsh Gov to introduce bold, protective legislation similar to the Tobacco and Vapes Bill:
Generational ban: Anyone born after 2009 cannot buy or drink alcohol.
Strict marketing limits to protect children from exposure.
Promotion controls to curb harmful drinking.
This is a chance to save lives, reduce illness, prevent crime, and protect young people.
