Deiseb a wrthodwyd Reinstate Surgery for WGS Referrals and Ensure Trans people are represented in the Review.

Gender-affirming surgery is life changing and, for some trans people, it is life saving. It can relieve profound gender dysphoria, improve quality of life and allow people to finally live as themselves. Welsh Gender Service patients have already waited years for this care. Taking it away now is having a devastating effect on people who have spent years working towards it. Surgery must be reinstated, with trans people represented in the review.

Rhagor o fanylion

Right now, people are scared, distressed and losing hope at an alarming rate. They are left not knowing whether the care they have waited years for will ever happen. Some have had surgery cancelled after making plans, taking time off work, booking travel arrangements and believing their long wait was finally over. This uncertainty is taking a serious toll on people who are have already waited so long for a chance to move forward and start living their authentic lives.

We have protested, signed petitions and spoken out, and things are changing but they're not changing in the right direction, trans people are actively losing their rights. Our voices are not being heard.

Wales has a proud history of leading healthcare: the NHS itself was founded by Welshman Aneurin Bevan. The Welsh Government must now put its foot down and act. Reinstate surgery for WGS referrals and ensure trans people have meaningful representation in the independent review. These are people's lives, not statistics.
