Deiseb a wrthodwyd Reconsider the current Assessment System for GCSE and A-Level for 2021 and 2022

This country has seen a large disadvantage for students and teachers. During the first lockdown, students were told not to complete any work and wait until August for results. Internally, a system was set in place to standardise results. It was proved to be unfair to students and did not reflect on what they could have been achieved. This was then changed to teacher-based grades. Many young people, like me, feel under-prepared to carry out any form of external assessments this year and the next.

Some factors behind this include:

- Missing school due to orders from Track & Trace. This has led to reduced classroom learning and a lack of motivation to learn heavy subjects from home.

- Some students that have been off due to a positive case and multiple positive cases in their class and would not hold sufficient knowledge in a specific topic.

- Lack of clarity and understanding from teachers and the Welsh Government on how the process will occur which has led to confusion.

- Too much pressure has been on teachers to overload us with theory work and coursework to ensure we have enough to cover one of the topics. This has caused stress on teachers as well as pupils.

- Some students do not feel mentally prepared, especially given current circumstances.
